Bainbridge Island is the perfect destination to spoil yourself with the loveliest of treats. From chocolate and coffee to whiskey and wine, we have something delicious for everyone!

Chocolate

Did you know that chocolate is a vegetable? If it’s made from beans, it must be good for you! Gourmet handcrafted chocolates are a fabulous treat for those with a sweet tooth, and some of the best are right here on Bainbridge Island.

Powell and Jones is a small batch artisan chocolate and confectionery company founded in 2014 by Mark and Sally, a lovely British husband and wife team who will enthusiastically share their craft with you. They have many amazing varieties of dark and light Belgium chocolate, taking advantage of local ingredients to blend with their craft. Think honey, whiskey, berries… delicious and without artificial ingredients. They can be found at Bainbridge Brewing at their Coppertop location, Bon Bon Candies in Winslow or at their design studio in Coppertop Loop. They are generous with samples and have wonderful seasonal designs, too!

The chef team at L’Atelier is a chocolate force to be reckoned with. Chef Tamas has competed on the international culinary stage with heavy emphasis on chocolate and pastry. Chef Tae has worked with world renowned chocolatiers in Belgium and Las Vegas. Together they make amazing Belgium chocolates filled with caramels, fruit ganache, tea infusions and nuts. At their working kitchen located on Three Tree Lane near the BARN, pick up their bars, dragees or even pounds of chocolate. They also offer incredible waffles, cakes and pastries. Open Friday through Sunday 9am-4pm.

Visit Bon Bon, our sweetest sweet shop in downtown Winslow. They offer a variety of chocolates and truffles crafted in the states and imported from overseas. They also have a large selection of candies and are famous for their “Bainbridge Fudge”.

Coffee

Seattle is regarded as the world center for coffee. Between the many roasting centers and the often rainy weather, a coffee culture has thrived for the many enthusiasts who kick back and sip in the many coffee houses scattered across the city. We have several here on Bainbridge that are wonderful, warm and charming- not to be missed for all you coffee lovers.

In 1979, would you believe founder David Dessinger of Pegasus Coffee House began his business by roasting coffee beans on his boat in Eagle Harbor? In 1980, he headed for solid ground and secured a landmark building constructed in 1937 for his roasting and service. Ever growing in popularity, Pegasus Coffee today serves up delicious roasts and a family friendly environment for community to congregate. They have a wonderful breakfast and lunch menu and often host live music by local musicians.

While more bakery than coffeehouse, Blackbird Bakery has become a cultural hub and the perfect place to grab a cup of java. Conveniently located in downtown Winslow, Blackbird has been serving locals and visitors since 1999. Relax in their yummy-smelling shop lined with rotating art from local artists or enjoy their sunny outdoor seating on Madrona Lane. Be sure to pair your coffee with one of their delicious seasonal pastries, breads, sandwiches or flatbreads.

Sine 2016, Cups Espresso has been serving warm and wonderful cups from their conveniently located cafe in downtown Winslow on Bjune Drive. Enjoy a newspaper while you’re sipping and take in the local art that rotates regularly. They have a delicious menu of sandwiches and pastries, too!

Our newest addition to the island coffee scene is Red Cedar Cafe, located in the Winslow Green in downtown Winslow. They have amazing coffees to be enjoyed both in their dining room and outside under cute red umbrellas. They’ve even set up some tables under the gazebo with great views of the downtown! With your brew, enjoy scrumptious pastries and breads, sandwiches and large plates. Be on the lookout for rotating menu items. This cafe is quickly becoming an island favorite!

The Marketplace At Pleasant Beach is a wonderful and relaxing neighborhood gathering place in Lynwood Center for our south-siders. The many windows provide sunny views of the neighborhood while you sip your delicious brew. Grab a donut to dunk! In addition to the coffeehouse, there is a delicatessen and a tap room for a wide variety of quality food and drink options.

Storyville Coffee Company hails from Seattle, but launched their Roasting Studio here. They call their studio a gallery with natural wood and warm colors and is designed as a creative space for locals and visitors. Whether relaxing in one of their comfy couches or working at one of their tables using their free WIFI, take advantage of the Tasting Room upstairs with the full service espresso bar that features daily fresh baked pastries and granola. It smells amazing here!

Distilleries

One of the more refined luxuries our island has to offer is our island distilleries. Gins and vodkas and whiskeys make wonderful gifts and souvenirs. Visit our two distilleries and enjoy the tastings!

Welcome to Washington State’s first organic spirits producers and the only distillery producing 100% organic spirits from scratch on site. Bainbridge Organic Distillers is a family business founded in 2009 that thrives in selecting the perfect grain varieties to grind, mash, ferment and distill on-site at their small-batch production located on Coppertop Loop. Their whiskeys, gins and vodkas have won worldwide distinctions year over year. Try their Yama Mizunara Cask Single Grain Whiskey and their Oaked Doug Fir Gin. Their knowledgeable staff offers tastings and gift packaging. You can purchase barware and mixers here, too.

Inspired by trips to Scotland, it was a dream for the Glenn family, a mother, father and son trio, to open Highside Distilling. Now they are producing delicious gins and gin varietals. Become your own mixologist by using the amazing recipes they list on their website or by taking one of their classes. If you’re not up to making your own, Highside Distilling spirits are available in local watering holes across the island.

Wine

Visitors and locals delight in our island’s mini wine country. Home to seven artisanal wineries, island wine touring includes on-hand winemakers and barrel tastings. Consider visiting them by using Tour Bainbridge, expert guides that offer enjoyable and personalized wine experiences.

A small artisan winery with big tastes, Rolling Bay Winery is a highlight of our island wine experience. Vintner Alphonse de Klerk, born in the Netherlands into a wine family, is super passionate and friendly- expect to be greeted by him and treated like royalty. His staff is friendly and knowledgeable and ready to keep your glasses full. In addition to having beautiful and warm indoor seating, there is wonderful sunny outdoor seating. Live music is a regular occurrence on the weekends in the summer months.

Located in Winslow, Eleven Winery is a boutique producter of diverse and off-beat wines. Winemaker Matt Albee started in the California wine scene, but quickly moved to the island, with his first wines being released in 2004. You’ll notice bicycle themes on many labels as Matt is an avid bike racing fanatic (this is also a nod to the island’s thriving bicycling community). Enjoy their convenient downtown tasting room, and if you choose to linger, a game of chess on their board. They are also open daily at their Day Road location for tastings and special events.

Fletcher Bay Winery’s two modern and cozy locations are perfect for wine lovers. Downtown Winslow offers a fabulous tasting room and roof top seating area with sweeping views of the harbor and the downtown. The Coppertop Loop tasting room has a delightful outdoor garden area with fire features and ample seating- they host weekly live music here on Wednesday nights in the warm months.Their award-winning wines are offered with cheese and charcuterie pairings.

Founded by Cynthia and Hugh Remash, Eagle Harbor Wine Company crafts artisanal old-world style wine. Their tasting room is conveniently located in downtown Winslow and beautifully newly renovated with indoor and outdoor seating. They also offer tastings and bottle sales at their modern production facility on Three Tree Lane, where you can get a deeper glimpse into the wine-making process. Expect knowledgeable staff, very often Cynthia, to tell you all about the wines.

Both bistro and winery, Amelia Wynn is a delicious choice for wine lovers. Their new location on Winslow includes a warm and vibrant art-featured dining room as well as sunny sidewalk seating. Their elegant award-winning wines are paired with scrumptious Mediterranean  small and large plates. Husband and wife team Paul Bianchi and Wendy Armstrong have created a welcoming and relaxing environment.

Perennial Vintners is a family-run operation specializing in delicate wines from the maritime cool climate of the Puget Sound AVA, which makes their wines unique from other island wineries. Their modest tasting room is available for flights and bottles to-go. They hope to expand their grape growing with the help of Friends of the Farms, an advocate for local food and farming.

Bainbridge Vineyards has been making 100% Estate Grown wines for over 40 years. This 1200-case small production winery is certified organic in the Puget Sound AVA. They even use horses to do some of their farming! They often give tours of their vineyard and their tasting room is one of the barns. They are open Thursday-Sunday 12pm to 5pm for tastings, glass pours and bottle purchases.

While not a winery per say, Earth & Vine is a cozy spot to share wine and charcuterie on the south side of the island in Lynwood Center. Featuring many Washington wines, they have both a lovely indoor tasting room and bar, and an outdoor patio seating area that is sunny and warm in the summer.

Harbor Square Wine Shop, just up the hill from the ferry, doesn’t make their own wine, but they sure have a wide selection of bottles! You can drink locally or internationally here, and knowledgeable owner Jeff can help you make the best selection for your event or pairing. Drink wine in the sun in his outdoor seating, or sip while you peruse the deep shelves.
