Getting around Bainbridge

Most visitors don’t bring a car to visit our island, since downtown Winslow is just off the ferry. But there is a lot to see island-wide and many easy and convenient ways to do it. 

Whether you arrived by public transportation, bike or car to our island, don’t miss the incredible ferry ride to and/or from Seattle. This is a photographer’s dream, offering incredible views of Mt Rainer, the Olympics, the Cascades and the Seattle skyline- be on the look out for whales and eagles. Check the ferry schedule regularly for sailing times. The price to ride is free when you leave the island.

What to do on Bainbridge Island
  • If you come to the island without a car and need to find your way to lodging or other parts of the island, take a taxi using Taxi & Tours or Viking Cab Co. Uber and Lyft. operate here, too.
  • BI Ride is a shared-ride service and a great option to explore some of Bainbridge Island’s most well-known destinations without a car.  Hop on the bus at the ferry terminal for scheduled stops to Lynwood Centerand Bloedel Reserve. To catch the bus somewhere other than at a scheduled stop, call at least two hours in advance and the bus will come to you. Call 1-844-4BI-RIDE to schedule a ride.  Reservation lines are open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM Monday through Saturday

Kitsap Transit

Public buses leave from the ferry terminal and make numerous stops around the island. Visit Kitsap Transit for all the schedules in order to plan your trip.

Bike Rentals

Bikes are a way of life on Bainbridge Island and another great way to explore island landscapes. Try the Bike Barn, located just past the buses when you get off the ferry, or Classic Cycle, located on Winslow Way across the street from the ferry terminal.
