Famed Historian and Author, Jonathan Darman shares his latest work "Becoming FDR"

Presented by Eagle Harbor Book Company at Eagle Harbor Book Co.

Join us as author and journalist Jonathan Darman, shares his latest book, Becoming FDR.  Jonathan is a former political correspondent for Newsweek and his experience writing and reporting on American history and politics gives him a unique insight into this nation's leaders. In Becoming FDR, Jonathan shows how years of personal struggle with polio transformed Franklin Roosevelt from a charming playboy into a compassionate and transformational leader. His ascent to the presidency in turn gave his wife Eleanor the platform by which she too became a great inspirational leader.  The evening will be filled with interesting details on one of our greatest presidents and an opportunity to compare and contrast his qualities with his predecessors.

Praise for Jonathan Darman's biography has been universal: "A gifted historian and writer, Darman has given us a parable of redemption through suffering, a sensitive portrait of a marriage, and a fascinating study of the acquisition of power. This is the gripping story of how a lightweight playboy became a great world leader.” (Evan Thomas, author of First: Sandra Day O’Connor )“ "At a time when suffering and resilience have taken on new meaning for us all, Jonathan Darman offers us a compelling and compassionate portrait of a man who did extraordinary things because he came to understand both." (Drew Gilpin Faust, bestselling author of This Republic of Suffering)
