Caring for Your Bones with Suzanne Granstrom, Mikki Townshend & Carol Ann Davidson—In-Studio and Livestream

Join us to learn about preventing bone loss, osteopenia, and osteoporosis while exploring how to care for your bones now and in the future with nutrition, physical therapy, yoga and breath. Additionally, explore lifestyle modifications for prevention, to reduce risks of fractures and loss of function.

Suzanne Granstrom, RN and Nutritional Counselor, will explain the important role of nutrition and share recipes that support bone health.

Mikki Townshend, physical therapist, will educate you on current research and best practices regarding exercise for healthy bones and management of osteopenia and osteoporosis including how to move safely both in daily life and during workouts.

Carol Ann Davidson, physical therapist and yoga instructor, will offer accessible poses for balance, posture, strength and flexibility and breath practices to support bone health and reduce fall risks.

No experience with yoga is necessary. Please wear comfortable clothes.

More about the instructors:

Suzanne Granstrom, RN, FNC has had a diverse career as a Registered Nurse working in many health care settings as a bedside nurse and in both staff education and community education roles. She is a firm believer that small lifestyle changes will have big health benefits and has explored nutrition and the impact our food choices have on our health. Her work is rooted in the philosophy that food can be our medicine and what we eat has a profound impact on our health.

Mikki Townshend is a UK ex-pat! She originally studied Sports Science at Liverpool Polytechnic, completed her master’s in physical education from the University of Western Ontario in Canada, attended Physical Therapy School at the University of Florida and completed her clinical doctorate at Rocky Mountain University in Utah. She is a Certified Orthopedic Specialist, Rehabilitation Certified Pilates Instructor, National Certified Pilates Teacher, a Master Instructor for Balanced Body and Bone Fit certified with Bone Health and Osteoporosis Foundation. Mikki has been a clinician for 35 years and a Pilates teacher for 20 years.

Carol Ann Davidson has over 30 years of experience as a licensed physical therapist, 5 years as a registered yoga teacher, and is currently enrolled in a program to become a certified yoga therapist. She believes that yoga is a lifelong practice that can help people of all abilities improve or maintain strength, flexibility, balance, breath, ease, and function. Blending physical therapy and yoga, she provides support, education, and training for a safe and sustainable movement practice.

Cost: $75 / In-person event size limited to 15. Reserve your spot by registering in advance.

**This event will be held indoors at the Dayaalu Center. Masks are optional for all in-person classes and programs at Dayaalu.
