Bloedel Reserve Creative Resident Arlene Naganawa Presentation

Bloedel Reserve Creative Resident Arlene Naganawa Presentation

Presented by Bloedel Reserve at Kitsap Regional Library, Bainbridge Island

Bloedel Reserve Creative Resident Arlene Naganawa holds a discussion in partnership with Bainbridge Public Library. Arlene’s presentation centers on her mother’s family, the Hatsukanos, who settled in Whitefish around 1918. In this combination poetry reading and slide show, Arlene shares her impressions of what she has excavated about her family and other Japanese in the small, remote community. She undertook this project because, “When there’s no one left in the living world who remembers you, you disappear from this world,” and she needed to remember.

Arlene will be joined by John Willson for the first part of the presentation for a mini-interview.

This event is presented for FREE at the Bainbridge Public Library. No registration required.
