Nancy Blakey returns to Eagle Harbor Bookstore on April 7, 2022 at 7 p.m. to present her all-new outdoor recreation guide, Mountains are Calling.  Her popular earlier guide, By the Shore, established her as an authority on outdoor recreational activities along the Pacific Northwest coast. With Mountains are Calling she shares her extensive knowledge of the spectacular mountains and volcanos of the region. Her new guide is for the novice outdoor adventurist – the person who wants to explore the nearby mountains but doesn’t know where, or how, to begin.  Her guide focuses on locations easily accessible to Seattle and Portland residents yet off the beaten path, with hikes and activities that most everyone can enjoy. The evening will be a celebration of the Pacific Northwest with stories of her personal adventures and favorite hidden locations.

Raised on Bainbridge Island, with summers spent at her parents’ salmon processing business in Alaska, Nancy became an avid outdoor enthusiast and respected authority on the region. In addition to By the Shore, Nancy has written five children's activity books for Ten Speed and has contributed to numerous anthologies. She is the founder of the parenting website MudPieMamas.com.

The publisher releases Mountains are Calling on April 5, 2022.  Copies will be available at Eagle Harbor Book Co. prior to the event beginning April 5th, and available for purchase and inscription at the event on April 7, 2022.
