Library U Humanities Series: A Nicer Kind of Murder - The Evolution of Crime Fiction

Presented by Library U, a Program of the Bainbridge Public Library at Bainbridge Public Library

A Nicer Kind of Murder - The Evolution of Crime Fiction. Presented by Matthew Sullivan, writing teacher and crime novelist. From Poe and Sherlock Homes to British cozies and hardboiled pulps, author Matthew Sullivan traces the many influences on the postwar and modern eras of the mystery genre and shows how empathy plays a unique role in contemporary crime novels—especially in today’s literary mysteries.

Part of Library U's Spring 2022 Humanities Speaker Series. Co-sponsored by the Bainbridge Public Library and Humanities Washington.
