We will be screening 3 short films focusing directly on the experiences of Bainbridge Islanders who were imprisoned right here on Bainbridge during WWII.
FUMIKO HAYASHIDA: THE WOMAN BEHIND THE SYMBOL (2009) 15 MIN
This short film tells the story behind the Bainbridge Island resident who became the symbol of injustice in the most well-known photograph from the era.
VISIBLE TARGET (1985) 28 MIN
Featuring testimonies from Bainbridge Islanders, this documentary short film focuses on the recollection of Japanese Americans and their Bainbridge Island neighbors as they talk about their experience as the first community in the nation to be imprisoned after EO9066
TADAIMA (2015) 15 MIN
After the closure of the US Internment Camps at the end of WWII, a Japanese American family returns home and must find the strength to rebuild both their house and their family amidst the emotional and physical destruction caused by the war.
