During these crazy times, there is nothing more important that the sanctity of our health and the support of our loved ones. We are trying to manage a great deal of stress, making it imperative to take a moment, breathe, relax and reflect. We also seek to have some semblance of normalcy in our lives, naturally craving happiness and joy. There has never been a better time to enjoy the gift of nature to help you reconnect. Thankfully, Bainbridge Island is an incredible escape for you.

One of the largest attractions of Bainbridge Island is our land. There are over 1400 acres of protected forests, wetlands, meadows, streams and scenic vistas on this island, more than 1100 of them being open to the public. Thanks to the Bainbridge Island Land Trust and its many volunteers and donors, our island has dozens of pristine and beautiful places to explore for your outdoor adventures.

To help you focus your attention to the places you’d like to explore, local authors Dave and Alice Shorett have released a beautifully illustrated guide called “Thirty Walks on Bainbridge”. Now on its third edition, this handy book highlights some of the more incredible places to hike. From shorter, easier walks just off the ferry, like the Eagle Harbor /Winslow Waterfront to the longer, more strenuous and gorgeous hikes like the Cross Island trail, there is a walk or hike that appeals to everyone. This book can be purchased at several shop in Winslow, including Eagle Harbor Book Store, and on-line.

Open year round, Bloedel Reserve is the ideal place to breathe, reflect, relax and rejuvenate.
