As the crisp cool air of Autumn makes way for the bite of Winter and the holiday season, Bainbridge Island has some fun activities in store for everyone, from the littlest lads to the young at heart and everyone in between.  Putting candy and wilting jack-o-lanterns aside means making room for cornucopia, wreaths, and candles.  It also means it’s time to shop for others during the holiday season.  Just in time for the season, participating merchants on Bainbridge Island are offering a drawing for five $500 shopping sprees as well as a wonderful child’s gift.  Just fill out an entry form at any one of the participating merchant locations by December 19 and you could be one of the lucky winners! Here is a link to the program.

This year’s Holiday Open House on Bainbridge Island takes place on Saturday, November 24 from 10 a.m. until 6 p.m.  During this time, you can take your child to search for all the Elves on the Shelves while you shop and stroll down Winslow Way.  Don’t forget to stop at the Cider Booth from 1-3 p.m. for complimentary cider and to learn about the Downtown Giving Trees.  The Winter Farmers Market will also be happening in Town Square from 9 a.m. until 1 p.m. so you can stock up on local harvests for your holiday feasts and gifts for friends and family.  Finally, after all your shopping is done, don’t miss Santa coming in to town on a bright red fire truck courtesy of Bainbridge Island Fire Department.  This year the location for the Community Tree Lighting and Entertainment is at Winslow Green from 5 p.m. until 6:30 p.m. and will feature Holiday music by the BHS Band, music of Andrew Lloyd Webber by Ovation Performing Arts Northwest and a sneak peak into Wizard of Oz by Bainbridge Performing Arts opening on December 7, all while waiting for Santa and his Elves to arrive.

Bainbridge is known for it’s local art scene and our artists put out a great showing of handmade gifts available during the holiday season. We have created a great map and details to help you navigate the island and find those perfect unique handmade items. Holiday Studio Tours/Shopping
