Bainbridge Branch of the Kitsap Regional Library
    Arts & Culture Org;  Library
The library on Bainbridge Island is supported by a unique public-private partnership. Kitsap Regional Library levies property tax dollars to fund materials, technology, staff and a host of library services. Bainbridge Public Library (Inc.), a sixteen-member nonprofit board, raises private dollars to maintain the library building and grounds. Kitsap Regional Library inspires our community to dream more, learn more, do more and be more. We serve our County's 258,000 residents through nine community library locations, online access to library materials and services, and mobile services to individuals with significant barriers to using their Library location. The Library has more than 400,000 physical items in its collection and we offer access to a wide variety of downloadable e-books, audiobooks and music and access to dozens of digital research tools. The library building itself features more than a dozen permanent art installations as well as a monthly exhibit in the large event room, with an opening each First Friday. The works of dozens of local writers are among the collection. A part of the Kitsap Regional Library system, the Bainbridge branch offers a calendar jam-packed with events, workshops and educational opportunities.

The Bainbridge Island Historical Museum is a nonprofit organization located in Bainbridge Island, a short ferry ride from Seattle. Our mission is to collect, preserve, and foster knowledge of Bainbridge Island History. Each year, some 13,000 visitors come from around the world to experience our award-winning exhibits which illustrate the Island’s past as a lumber and shipbuilding powerhouse, and then as an important center for strawberry farming. We tell the story of the forced removal of the Island’s large Japanese American population during WWII, the first of some 120,000 people to be incarcerated in internment camps. We provide a year-round educational program for Island youth and for visiting groups. Our teacher docents are trained educators that participate in outreach programs both in the museum and at schools throughout the region. Our 5 staff members help educators, writers and researchers locate and interpret historical source material using our collection of more than 18,000 artifacts, digital images, books and maps. As of January, 2019 the Museum has been FREE to the public! We're open Fri-Sun 10AM-4PM. Stop by and visit us -- bring your family and friends!

Sometimes referred to as The Best Damn Theatre Company in the World, Island Theatre is located on Bainbridge Island, in Washington’s Puget Sound. We go for the provocative stuff, the plays not being done elsewhere. Not just dangerous, but challenging plays— intellectual, lyrical, electrifying, edifying, entertaining, questioning, amazing, heart wrenching, hysterical work not often seen. We bring literature to life! Since 1995, Island Theatre has been delivering masterpieces of the theatrical canon to audiences in venues as diverse as the Bainbridge Public Library, the Bloedel Reserve and your own living room. Our mission is to provide quality theatre, geared toward mature audiences, onstage and in less conventional venues through plays that challenge the performers artistically while both entertaining and intellectually engaging audiences.
